Chocolate Brownies

Homemade brownies are so easy. I hope you try this recipe.

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweeted cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder


  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. 
  • Butter and flour an 8-inch square pan.
  • In a large saucepan, slowly melt the butter, careful not to let it bubble. Remove from heat, and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla until blended. 
  • Add cocoa, flour, salt, and baking powder, and blend until smooth.
  • Pour into cake pan. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes.


  • Test for doneness by poking the center with a toothpick and see if it comes out clean.
  • I used two 4-cavity heart-shaped silicone molds. If you use a silicone mold, put them on a baking sheet and then in the oven. Don’t put them directly on the oven rack. 
  • Baking in the heart-shaped pans took 25 minutes.
