I love mulled wine at holiday time. This simple recipe for Vin Brulé is easy and fun to make. It only has a few ingredients but it has a powerful flavor.
Take care when making it though. You set it aflame just before serving. Don’t let things get out of hand. It’s a stunning presentation and adds to the festive experience.
Traditional mulled wine can be a complicated affair with all kinds of spices and fruits added. This recipe is super simple and just as delicious.
- 1 bottle dry red wine (750 ml)
- 2-3 cinnamon sticks
- 3-4 tablespoons sugar
- peel of 1 orange
- Put all ingredients into a medium saucepan. Cover and cook on high.
- When it starts to boil, remove the lid and light with a match. Be careful: A beautiful large blue flame will burst out.
- When the flames dies down, ladle into mugs.
